I'm cool with gen stuff if that's your deal, but admittedly my preferences err towards the romantic end. That's not true for every fandom of course, but I always love idiots falling in love stories. I love messy and complex relationships where people fuck up and don't know how to navigate their emotions. I love a sense of humor. Fake dating, explorations of canon, UST, PWP, established relationships, pining. I don't mind infidelity in a general sense. Multipairing, poly relationships, OT3s, gen, slash, femslash, het: I'm cool with it all. Ladies in charge always & forever. Dudes having a good cry.
I don't love darkfic or bleakness but it has its place, so I'm not 1000% averse to it either. Things I am averse to: noncon, kidfic, fluffy sentimentality, mpreg, a/b/o.
The Get Down (TV). any characters.
I love absolutely everything about this show, so I'm down with a story focusing on anyone, but Zeke is my #1 fave, closely followed by Mylene (and the Soul Madonnas!!!) and the rest of the Fantastic Four Plus One crew.
This was probably my favorite new show this year. I loved it from beginning to end: the vibrancy, the music, the hopefulness! These kids struggling to figure themselves out in this world and achieve their goals! Zeke's intelligence and dramatics and heartbreak! Mylene's laser-focus ambition! These are a few of my favorite things. Ship-wise I am into Zeke/Mylene and Dizzee/Thor (THAT CLUB SCENE! MY EMOTIONS ABOUT DIZZEE'S BEAUTIFUL EXPLORATION OF HIS SEXUALITY AND WHAT THIS MEANS IN THE LARGER CONTEXT OF HIS LIFE/THE SEVENTIES!) but I am also open to Zeke/Shao and Regina/Yolanda. And other weird stuff! I dig unexpected character combinations so feel free to get creative or unusual 'bout it.
Only Ever Yours - Louise O’Neill. isabel and freida.
This book had a profound effect on me and I would love anything you came up with, but my very bruised heart would love something that allowed isabel and freida a little bit of the freedom and autonomy they deserve. Wish fulfillment 2 the max.
This book Fucked Me Up. Royally. So fucked up. I am still fucked up about it. It was so absolutely devastating to me, but it's also such a fascinating world. I'd love more about freida growing up, or how the world works. I'd love freida and isabel running away together and finding a secret resistance. I'd love an AU that saw these characters functioning in a different setting. Though I didn't list him amongst the characters because he's not a priority, I wouldn't mind a look at how things are for Darwin, either.
The Two Faces of January (2014). Colette MacFarland and Rydal Keener.
The thing that killed me the most about this movie was the unresolved chemistry between Colette and Rydal, so I'd love something that focused on that, but if you'd rather focus on one character solo I'd take anything about either of them. Just not really interested in Chester.
I really enjoyed this movie as a major Kiki and Oscar fan, and I was primarily interested in their relationship. And the scenery. I know that's not hella helpful for fic, but man. The SCENERY. I suppose for this fandom I'm mostly curious to see the blanks filled in with Colette and Rydal. I'd also love a fic about either of their lives before the movie started, or maybe even them meeting back in New York pre-movie.
Splendor (1999). Veronica, Abel, Zed
I love this weird little movie but I think it had a few unsatisfying gaps that could use elaborating on when it comes to Veronica, Zed, and Abel's relationship.
I love everything in this movie up until we hit babytown – not that there's anything wrong with that, but it created a tonal shift in the film that was just less interesting to me. I was more interested in the relationship dynamics between the three leads and how they figured things out.
My Beautiful Laundrette (1985). Johnny and Omar.
A lovely film that I'd want more of in any direction: Omar and Johnny before the film, Omar and Johnny after the film, Omar and Johnny during, etc. I'd take any of it.
I've kind of rediscovered my love for this movie lately. As wonderful as it is, there are still a lot of gaps that could do with sketching in, and that would be cool.
Heathers (1988). Veronica Sawyer and Heather Chandler.
This is one of my favorite movies ever, and I've always been particularly intrigued by the relationship between Veronica and Heather Chandler. I'd love to see more of it, shippy or not.
Veronica and Heather Chandler are my faaaaaves, particularly their antagonistic af "friendship," and I'm always a little down once Heather dies because we don't get any more of it. The bitchiness and the competitiveness but also the sense that they're totally 100% on each other's levels? Man, that really gets me. Totally into it ship-wise or gen, would love to see how Heather lured Veronica into the friendship.
