Stolen from
stainofmylove and
portions_forfox but also myself because apparently I did this in 2010?

STATS:
fics: 54, WHAT
Gossip Girl: 33
Game of Thrones: 4
BtVS & AtS: 3
Mad Men: 3
RPF: 3
My So-Called Life: 2
The Hunger Games: 2
Misc: 5 (Dawson's Creek, Heathers, Boy Meets World, Original, Crossover)
ships: Let's say roughly 30, because I have a lot of multi-ship fics and it can be hard to count properly.
gen pieces: Gen is hard because I think I would consider things to be gen that other people maybe wouldn't? So... I'll go with a nice and vague: under 10.
threesomes: 5
female POV: 28
male POV: 25
most written character: I didn't count or anything, but, like, come on, it's obviously Dan Humphrey.
most written ship: Again without counting, I'd say probably Dan/Blair.
OVERALL:
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
I think I generally do write a lot, but I was surprised I wrote so much this year because I went through what felt like an endless dry spell, where I really had to force myself to write anything. And then in the last couple of months I just went nuts. Sort of made up for lost time, I guess. And like…fifty-four fics is CRAZY. Self, how.
Did you take any writing risks this year?
Hm. Like…tiny risks, I guess? I wrote some things I was previously uncomfortable with, like super light vanilla-y kink and incest and RPF. Pairings that I felt weird about, or hadn't ever done before. I like to push myself. I posted original fic, which was crazy for me, even though it was short.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
My goal is always to write more femmeslash. I don't know why I don't write all that much of it. I also would like to continue to write pairings and fandoms I haven't done before, just for the challenge of it.
ALSO. ALSO, I want to finish all my WIPs! THAT IS MY BIGGEST GOAL. I WANT THEM ALL TO BE DONE THIS YEAR.
BEST AND WORST
My best story of this year:
you went through me headfirst. It was just one of those fics I felt very connected to as I was writing it.
the bare bones. It's something I'd had in the back of my head since I was like fifteen or so, and it was really satisfying to finally get it out there.
walked into the room you know you made my eyes burn. I'm still surprised I was even able to do this! I want to write more classic Hollywood RPF.
My most popular story of this year:
Um. Hm. I think my angsty post-5.24 GG fics were pretty popular because everyone was angsty, so they were apropos to what was going down in fandom at the time. 'dear so-and-so' proved pretty popular, I think. 'quite nice people,' maybe, also.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Um, I tend to think my non-DB Gossip Girl fic is kind of under-appreciated? Specifically, though, maybe 'bombshell,' my Serena-as-Marilyn fic. I was really happy with that fic and I think my pride kind of exceeded everyone else's interest, lol.
Most fun story to write:
Ahh Idk! I've been having such a fun fic writing time the last two months. 'age of dissonance' was fun because there's nothing I love more than reworking shit. 'bang bang (my baby shot me down)' was super fun. All of the more unusual (for me) stuff was fun because it was different, like the RPF and the stuff I did for the Gossip Girl fic meme.
Story with the single sexiest moment:
'bang bang' maybe?? I think I tend towards voyeurism in a lot of fics? Lol. And the Dan/Beatrice-watched-by-Blair scene turned out nicely, I was happy with it.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Um. Hm. I have no idea, really.
Hardest story to write:
The longer ones. 'quite nice people' and 'she's your lover now' took for-fucking-ever and it was pulling teeth at the end there.
Biggest disappointment:
'kings and queens.' I had this plan for such an epically long old-timey threeway of awesomeness with Arthurian overtones and it just…did not happen. In any way. At all. Ugh. Also any Hunger Games fic. I think I just suck at it.
Biggest surprise:
'there's a gun in your hand,' I think. It's short, but I never expected/thought I was capable of writing fic for Heathers. It is on such another level of awesome that I could never ever touch.
Most unintentionally telling story:
Lol, 'waltz no. 2' I think. I was…in a strange place while writing that and I think my ability to be objective kind of flew out of the window. I was definitely more emotional writing that than I am with most fics. There was perhaps a few tears shed during the process, what a lame-o.
Also, whenever I write Rayanne, it tends to be pretty telling. I think I let her speak more like me and my friends than most characters, even Dan, who is my spirit animal.
WIP TEASERS
I've been writing some of these for suuuuuch ages and ages and ages, I really hope they get finished this year.
I'll run the gun with you Robb/Jon 1980s AU.
The first time Robb sees the boy is through the grimy window of the record shop, framed between hot pink Bow Wow Wow posters.
it's like an echo in my head. angsty s6 Dan/Blair porn.
"I don't want you to ever step foot in this house again," Blair says. "I don't want to look at –"
"And I'm banished from Manhattan, New York, the United States, the earth," Dan says. "Got it, princess, I'll get right on that."
She bristles; he knows without looking.
needle in the hay. Dan/Serena incesty AU.
She emerges from the bus with her usual light step, like she’s floating, and a timely gust of wind blows golden hair back off her shoulders. A bright smile is already widening on her face, turning her eyes into two cartoonish half-moons. She's got on sneakers, red Converse high tops, and tiny denim shorts, a bikini top with a jacket over it. There's one bag slung across her chest and two more in either hand.
She stops a few feet from him. "Hi," Serena says, voice gentle and warm.
"Hey," he says softly, getting to his feet.
The space between them might as well be a gaping chasm.
temporary like achilles. 1960s Nate AU. Companion fic to that other 1960s!GG fic I wrote.
Carter was Nate's first boyfriend. He was older and dangerous, the kind of boy mothers warned their daughters about. Nobody thought to warn Nate.
waiting like a lonesome queen
Once I loved a girl, the book starts, and I liked to think she loved me back, though everyone else seemed to know I was just a ticket out of nowhere and into nothing.
Blair shuts her eyes tight and when she can open them again, she flips to the first page, copyright and dedication.
It's for you, it says, answering the question she hadn't voiced. Blair shakes her head, releasing a short, amused breath; stupid, sweet, obvious Dan.
without a key (3/5)
Nate sits in his freshly pressed suit, knot of his tie right up against his throat, and uses his fork to shred his turkey without eating any, wishing he was somewhere else. His mother alternates gulps of wine with tiny bites that hardly count; both of their plates are practically untouched. She'd had his father's chair taken out of the dining room, but that doesn't make the empty space any less conspicuous.
be my heater, be my lover (5/6)
"It's the summer," Nate says, seeming to struggle for words. "Stuff happens, okay? It's not supposed to - to last or anything." He meets Dan's eyes straight-on and says, "What, did you think I'd be your boyfriend at the end of this or something?"
dear baby
It's almost the holidays and Blair misses her dad sharply, misses the girl he thinks she is. "I want to make a pie," she says stubbornly, "Pumpkin."
"Okay," Dan says easily. "Show me how."
some Dan/Nate/Blair thing that I will probs never really write
Dan leans into the phone, caught between his ear and his shoulder. "How is it every summer you're off doing something exciting and I'm sitting here moping?"
Nate's answer, sounding distant on the phone, like it explains everything: "Dude, you read too much."
if you see her, say hello Sequel to 'gone like her smile.'
"I'm pregnant," Blair says flatly. Dan has an overwhelming sense of deja-vu.
1950s!DB
I actually have barely anything written, I'm just attached to the idea of Blair being all sad housewife in a big fluffy Betty Draper dress and Dan being her Ginsberg-reading, Buddy-Holly-glasses-wearing, poetry-writing gardener.
YOUR FIC (THE REC LIST)
There is a more extensive rec list in my 2012 scrapbook, so please go over and look! This post is already so long, and I am just too lazy to re-do it. BUT ALL OF THAT FIC IS FLAWLESS AND GLORIOUS. GO READ IT.
